Disclosure of Interest

The intent of ECTS is to provide high-quality sessions focused on educational content that is free from commercial influence or bias. We request all presenters to cooperate in this by:

  1. Declaring any potential conflict of interest on a Disclosure of Interest form
  2. Declaring any commercial role in your research on your slides or poster

The intent of this disclosure is not to prevent an author with a conflict of interest from making a presentation but to make known the relationship, in advance, to the audience. It is intended that any commercial affiliation be openly identified so that, with the full disclosure of the facts, the attendees may form their own judgements about the presentation.

A conflict of interest is considered to exist if a presenter (speaker or poster) has a financial interest in, or is affiliated with, commercial organisations that may have a direct or indirect interest in the subject matter of the presentation.

  • A financial interest is defined as being a shareholder in the organisation or having research supported or honoraria paid by the organisation.
  • An affiliation is defined as holding a position on an advisory committee or having some other role which is of benefit to a sponsoring organisation.

Any presenter with potential conflicts of interest will be identified in the programme book. The company name and affiliation will be identified and the following statement published:

"These presenters have indicated that they have an affiliation which, in the context of their presentation(s) / comments, could be perceived as a potential conflict of interest."
