GALA CONCERT AT THE VIENNA KONZERTHAUS
Price: €15 per person
Lothringerstraße 20, 1030 Vienna
Buses will depart from the Reed Messe at the end of the satellite
symposium. No return.
The Vienna Konzerthaus was officially opened in 1913 after only
two years in construction; it was one of the most modern buildings
in the Danube Monarchy. Built by the renowned theatre architects
Ferdinand Fellner and Hermann Helmer, in co-operation with Ludwig
Baumann, it set new standards for its architecture, visitor-friendly
atmosphere, construction technology and modern facilities. The concert
programme will begin with music composed by Johannes Brahms. Brahms
composed his only Violin Concerto in the summer of 1878 and dedicated
the piece to his friend, the famous violinist Joseph Joachim, who
said “One enjoys getting hot fingers playing it, because it´s
worth it.” This concerto, which will be performed by the young
Viennese talent Johannes Fleischmann together with the “Österreichisch-slowakische
Philharmonie”, is one of the most challenging works of the
violin repertoire. Among the most cherished of Brahms' work are
his “Hungarian Dances”. These 21 dances, from which
you will hear six of the more popular pieces, reflect the spirit
of central Europe. In the second part of the concert the coloratura
soprano Nicola Proksch and the tenor Daniel Johannsen, will interpret
arias and a duet from Johann Strauß, father and son, as well
as from Franz Lehár. These favourite and well-known vocal
numbers represent the typical Viennese art of operetta-music. The
conductor for the evening, Ewald Donhoffer, gave his debut with
the “Vienna Symphony Orchestra” at the “Theater
an der Wien” in 2007 and at the “Semper Opera Dresden”
in 2008.
Don't miss this wonderful opportunity to attend a first class concert
in a beautiful setting at a reduced price! Light refreshments will
be provided.

CONFERENCE PARTY BY INVITATION OF THE MAYOR OF THE CITY
OF VIENNA
Price: €17 per person to cover transportation
Weingut Fuhrgassl-Huber
Buses will depart from different meeting points in the city.
We have listened to previous delegates' feedback on our social
programme and decided to hold a conference party. We are very pleased
to be able to announce that this year’s event is by invitation
of the Mayor of the city of Vienna and will be held at the Weingut
Fuhrgassl-Huber, located in the heart of Neustift am Walde, between
vineyards and the Vienna woods. This winery, with its cosy parlours
and romantic patio, has been a popular wine tavern for almost 30
years. The architect for this famous building was the professor
Walter von Hoesslin, the stage designer of the Vienna Opera House.
Throughout the evening you will be able to catch up with colleagues
in a casual and relaxed environment where you will be offered typical
Austrian food from one of several buffets in the various rooms of
the winery. For the more out-going there will be dancing with a
live band featuring rock, pop, oldies and current hits!
