Top class abstracts have been submitted to the ECTS 2018 congress that will be held in Valencia, Spain, on 26-29 May and that will be preceded by an exceptional Pre-Congress day on May 25. We are proud to report a high average abstract score, in line with previous year. Especially numerous were the abstracts on Osteoporosis and Rare Bone Diseases, but we also received a considerable number of abstracts in other categories, including Energy metabolism, Bone bioengineering, Cancer and Bone cell biology.
Abstracts were received from all over the world, with many submitted by our colleagues from China, Japan, South Korea and India. This makes ECTS 2018 a truly international congress. Delegates will enjoy a rich and rewarding programme.
All abstracts have now been marked and sorted. Thirsty-six abstracts have been selected for oral presentations at 4 plenary and 2 parallel sessions, while 48 abstracts will be presented as oral posters and 40 as SNAP posters. Furthermore, abstracts selected only for poster presentations will still have the chance to be re-selected as orals at the Academy New Investigator seminar and at the pre-congress workshops and working groups. Stay tuned and be ready to play the game with us! We care about you!
New this year: a group of pre-selected posters will be evaluated onsite by the members of the Scientific Programme Committee. Be prepared to discuss your results in a 5-minute oral presentation. The authors of the best clinical and basic/translational posters of this group will be invited on the podium to present their work during the closing ceremony.
This year posters will be valorised again with an “Ask Your Peers Poster Session” in which pre-selected posters will be briefly described on a screen, then the presenters will ask questions to the audience on how they could improve their research. The best clinical and basic/translational posters will receive a poster award.
The key concept of the ECTS 2018 Congress is that Clinicians and Basic/Translational Scientists should stick together. We will facilitate plenary Symposia and Oral presentation sessions where the two research fields can cross-fertilise each other. Networking activities have also been designed for this purpose. The future in science is through collaborations and both fields together can fulfil the ECTS mission to promote excellence in research and to ensure the findings are disseminated to give real benefit to patients.
Join us in Valencia and enjoy our amazing congress programme.
