ECTS Executive Committee Composition

We are pleased to announce the election of Professor Bo Abrahamsen as ECTS President Elect and of Professor Chris Meier as ECTS Treasurer.

We just completed an ECTS Board of Directors’ meeting where we held the election of the future ECTS President and Treasurer.  This time, we had two excellent internal candidates.

Professor Bo Abrahamsen has been elected as future ECTS President.  In line with the ECTS bylaws, presented to you on 29 November 2018, Bo is now President Elect and will take office as President for three years during the ECTS Annual Congress in Marseille in 2020.  Bo has been an active member of ECTS for many years, he is a Board Member since May 2018 and has served as Clinical Co-Chair of the ECTS 2019 Scientific Programme Committee as well as Chair of the Communications Committee.

At the Board meeting, Bo introduced his vision for ECTS, summarized here.

Professor Chris Meier has been elected ECTS Treasurer, following Erik Fink Eriksen.  He has served as Chair of the Clinical Practice Action Group for the past two years and he is also the Clinical Co-Chair of the Scientific Programme Committee for the upcoming ECTS 2020.  He is currently a member of the ECTS Board of Directors, following the elections held in conjunction with the last Annual General Meeting in Budapest, where the members strongly supported his nomination.

Chris also presented his vision as Treasurer for ECTS, summarized here.

Together with Anna Teti, ECTS President and Gudrun Stenbeck, ECTS Secretary, Bo, Chris will team up as ECTS Executive Committee and on behalf of the membership and they will steer and coordinate the activities of our society.

During the meeting, the specific responsibilities for each board member were also confirmed:

  • Anna Teti: President
  • Bo Abrahamsen: President Elect
  • Chris Meier: Treasurer
  • Gudrun Stenbeck: Secretary and Committee Coordinator
  • Geert Carmeliet: Chair of the Basic Science Committee
  • Nuria Guañabens: Chair of the Education Committee
  • Barbara Obermayer-Pietsch: Chair of the Research Committee
  • Hanna Taipaleenmäki: ECTS Academy Co-Chair and Chair of the Academy Committee
  • Elena Tsourdi: ECTS Academy Co-Chair and Chair of the ECTS 2020 Academy Programme
  • André van Wijnen: Chair of the Communication Committee
  • Carola Zillikens: Chair of the Clinical Science Committee

On this occasion, we would also like to take the opportunity to thank once more Claus Glüer, Lorenz Hofbauer, Erik Fink Eriksen and Martina Rauner who finished their term during the 2019 AGM in Budapest, for their commitment to ECTS over the past years.

The newly formed ECTS Board, together with the staff and all Action Group members, will continue focusing on ECTS Strategic Priorities and tackle new areas of activities.
