Post-doc Opportunity: Cargos of extracellular vesicles derived from osteocytes: a new approach for regenerative medicine of bone tissue

Post-doctoral position, 1-year renewable
Inserm Laboratory UMR1229 RMeS “Regenerative medicine and skeleton”
Team: REGOS “Regenerative medicine of bone tissue”
Recruiting body: University of Nantes
Funding: Agence Nationale de Recherche (France)

The position is to be filled from the beginning of 2022

The host team’s long-term goal is to demonstrate the role of extracellular vesicles (EVs) of osteocytic origin in the maintenance and physiological repair of bone tissue. Recent observations indeed suggest that osteocytes produce EVs which could constitute a sophisticated mechanism of intercellular communication in bone. The increase in bone micro-fractures during aging could both participate in compromising the mechanical properties of bone, but also in altering this communication path between osteocytes and other bone cells. Our hypotheses are that 1 / these EVs released by osteocytes transport powerful signals to other bone cells, and control osteogenesis, 2 / these EVs are altered during aging either in quantity or in quality, and 3 / these EVs and their cargos constitute new tools for bone regeneration, based on the mobilization and activation of the healing potential of the host tissue.

The candidate’s mission will be to identify and analyze the cargos that are associated with EVs (transcriptomic and proteomic analysis) isolated from young and old mice in order to highlight the signals altered during aging. Finally, by using models of bone loss mastered in the laboratory, the candidate will participate in the demonstration of the regenerative capacities of the most promising cargos.

Candidate profile: The candidate should have solid skills in transcriptomic and / or proteomic analysis and cell biology (cells in culture, transfection). For this position, experience in animal experimentation is necessary, the animal experimentation certificate “Design or realization of procedures” would be a plus.
The candidate must be autonomous and motivated.

To apply, send a CV, list of publications, cover letter, letters of recommendation and contacts of recent referees.
