Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the local organizers, we would like to warmly welcome you to ECTS 2022, which will be held in Helsinki on 6-10 May 2022. Helsinki, the capital of Finland, locates in Northern Europe, on the shore of the Gulf of Finland and is easily accessible with excellent flight connections from all over Europe, North America, and Asia. Helsinki is the largest city of Finland and a popular congress venue for large and small international congresses. It provides in addition to excellent congress facilities and efficient organizational services also a view to the Nordic culture with beautiful architecture and design, urban nature, and local food. The sea around the peninsula of Helsinki and its archipelago are full of beautiful places to explore. In addition to historic monuments and museums, why not try sauna and swimming in the (cold) sea? Already in May you can experience the long hours of daylight and short and light nights.
Helsinki is a compact city and most of the places in the city can be reached just by walking, biking, or using the flexible and comprehensive public transportation network (tram, bus, metro). Messukeskus, the congress center, has a central location near a train station, and it can be easily reached with a direct 20 min train connection from the airport. The Töölö park, close to the congress center, has a popular walking path which circles the Töölö bay and gives an opportunity to enjoy beautiful Northern spring season and both modern and old architecture (Opera, Finlandia House, Concert Hall, Helsinki Central Library Oodi, Parliament House) during or after congress days.
International rankings have repeatedly placed Finland and Helsinki in the leading positions when measuring happiness, safety, liveability or education. So, in addition to the premier quality of science and a happy reunion with colleagues and collaborators, there are also several other reasons to join us in Helsinki for ECTS 2022. The health and safety issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic are well-controlled to provide safe travelling and enjoyable congress visit.
