ECTS Annual Meeting 2022: The highlights of Clinical Programme. By Radmila Matijevic, Clinical Co-Chair

As every year, ECTS Congress is the place to be. In 2022 you will be able to hear hot topics and up-to-date science. Thanks to amazing understanding and teamwork firstly with Bram C. J. van der Eerden (Basic Co-Chair), then with Anna Teti (Co-Chair) and Outi Mäkitie (LOC Co-Chair), and with great suport and all necessery guidance from Bo Abrahamsen (Chair), we bring you excellent mixture of basic science and clinical expertise.

We created four Symposia, each one consisting of basic and clinical talks with the aim to empower comprehensibility beetwen us. The first will try to give an answer to the question what is new in field of chronobiology and clock genes and their relevance to musculoskeletal health. The second one is a real fusion of science and clinics and I’m sure you will enjoy listening and learning about organs on chips. The third symposium will give us insight into cranial defects and repairs, while the fourth will bring genetics and epidemiology of bone strength and fracture risks.

Through Clinical Concurrent Symposia, the clinical part of the programme will cover nutritional strategies for maintaining muscle mass and strength from middle age to later life, give new insights into disturbances in calcium and phosphate homeostasis, and also present advances in clinical bone imaging.

Of course, we will have the ASBMR/ECTS debate, and this time the question will be ‘do bisphosphonates lower cardiovascular risk’, but for the first time, the ECTS congress will offer two rather than one debate session. In addition to the Clinical ECTS/ASBMR debate, we will also be able to enjoy a Basic Science debate.

As another novelty this year, the Pre-Congress Day will include Open Fora as enhanced Working Group program and Mellanby course. The National day and ancillary program will offer great talks with additional expert speakers and many sessions planned in collaboration with other societies.

We want to make this our return to a normal conference experience with all the advantages that being immersed in an international scientific meeting has, so please join us in Helsinki from 6-10 May 2022.

Wellcome!
