Dear colleagues,
The 2023 ECTS Congress will feature the Bone Research Society (BRS) annual meeting and we all are excited to meet again for a live meeting in the vibrant city of Liverpool. Thanks to the great efforts of the Scientific Programme Committee, under the guidance of Bo Abrahamsen (Chair), a rich scientific program has been created that will hopefully fulfill the expectations of the attendees.
Our Big Clinical session will extensively discuss how artificial intelligence is currently affecting our clinical practice together with expected opportunities and caveats. In addition, the clinical update will include very interesting talks on the management of painful vertebral fractures and on the lessons learned from the serendipitous findings of clinical trials.
As in previous years we offer four plenary symposia, consisting of basic and clinical parts, aiming to empower a close cooperation between basic and clinical scientists. The multi-omics contribution to understand the bone in health and disease would be approached both by the clinical and basic perspective. Additionally, the impact of bone modifying agents on vascular calcification risk would be the clinical input in the second symposium. Furthermore, the effects of iron on the skeleton and the consequences of diabetic bone disease would be thoroughly reappraised within the rest two symposia.
The clinical concurrent symposia will revisit the use of serum biomarkers in the management of osteoporosis and osteoarthritis, the management of osteoporosis in special situations such as HIV disease and organ transplantation, and the redefinition of osteoporosis treatment success or failure at the individual level.
The need for additional trials on bone outcomes of vitamin D would be the topic of the Golden Femur ECTS-ASBMR Debate and it is again expected to be very exciting.
At last, but not least, the Pre-Congress Day will include Open Fora, workshops, the Mellanby training course, and the BRS annual congress.
Save the dates of 14-18 April 2023 and do not miss the opportunity to join us.
We really hope and wish to meet you all there!
