ECTS Charity Event. By Alex Ireland

The charity event will take place on Sunday 26th of May 21:00-22:00, Rooftop of the congress venue (Marseille Chanot). Please join us on the Sunday evening of the congress, to participate in an exhibition game of pétanque.  Trained instructors will demonstrate how to play this typical Provençal game, allowing you to enjoy a social activity with other delegates.  This includes the traditional accompaniment of pastis, available from the rooftop bar (cash or card payments accepted).

This year, the ECTS charity event will be run in support of the French-based Ollier Maffucci Europe charity.  Ollier Maffucci Europe supports individuals with Ollier disease and Maffucci syndrome; both rare, nonhereditary disorders in which patients develop multiple benign cartilaginous tumors in the bone.  These tumors can cause skeletal deformities and/or undergo malignant transformation into secondary chondrosarcomas.  Maffucci syndrome is also associated with cutaneous, soft tissue, or visceral hemangiomas.  Ollier Maffucci Europe was established in 1998 and offers information for affected people and their families, promotes media and medical awareness of the conditions, and supports fundament and applied research.

The registration link is here, to register we ask for a minimum €15 donation – places are limited, so make sure to sign up as soon as possible!  All of the proceeds from this event will go to Ollier Maffucci Europe with ECTS supporting the event costs.
