The ECTS Clinical Training Course on Metabolic Bone Diseases 2025 took place online on 14 and 17 November 2025 and brought together 47 participants from across Europe and beyond for two intensive and highly interactive days of clinical education.
Over two days, the course covered a wide range of topics in metabolic bone diseases, including osteoporosis and osteomalacia, parathyroid disorders, and secondary osteoporosis such as CKD-related, glucocorticoid-induced, and iron-related bone disease. Further sessions addressed challenging and rare conditions, including fracture healing under treatment, bone marrow edema, bone tumors, MTX-osteopathy, and osteogenesis imperfecta. In addition, practical workshops focused on DXA, advanced bone imaging, and modern treatment strategies, including anabolic and sequential therapies.
For the 2025 course, we adapted the format to allow more interaction and discussion. This was very well accepted by the participants. Many colleagues actively joined the discussions and brought their own difficult clinical cases from daily practice to be discussed with the expert faculty. These case discussions were highly appreciated and contributed greatly to the learning experience for all participants.
