I am extremely honoured to Co-Chair together with Professor Richard Eastell this year’s ECTS Clinical Training Course which will take place digitally on November 7th and November 21st. This course was first inaugurated in 2021, as a complimentary clinical counterpart to the long-running successful ECTS PhD training course and aims to provide participants with the fundamental and advanced knowledge in clinical skills for the evaluation and management of patients with a metabolic bone disease, including osteoporosis. It is mainly aimed at clinicians in training and clinical PhD students, but it is also of interest to specialists willing to update their knowledge, allied health professionals, and industry delegates.
The training course will combine state-of-the-art lectures with workshops based on clinical cases and highlighting novel diagnostic and therapeutic developments in a wide spectrum of osteological subjects. At the end of each day speakers, moderators and delegates are invited to grab a cup of coffee and interact further on a virtual Coffee round!
The focus of the 2023 Clinical Training Course will be on:
- Diabetes mellitus and bone fragility
- Bariatric surgery and skeletal health
- Role of molecular genetics in early-onset osteoporosis
- Novel tools to evaluate fracture risk
- Sequential osteoporosis treatments
- Osteomalacia
- Chronic hypoparathyroidism
We are very much looking forward to 2 days of scientific interaction with members of the vibrant ECTS Community! Looking onto the future, we are interested on feedback regarding the format of the Clinical Training Course (digital versus face-to-face; duration) and very much welcome suggestions and ideas for future topics!
