ECTS PhD Training Action Group. By Cristina Sobacchi

It’s my pleasure to introduce the ECTS PhD Training Action Group, which I co-chair. This Action Group has recently been renewed and currently is an “all pink” AG, comprising Donata Iandolo and me (Cristina Sobacchi), the “veterans”, from France and Italy, respectively; and Jelena Jadzic and Katharina Jähn-Rickert, the “new entries”, from Serbia and Germany, respectively. Katharina and Donata are also members of the ECTS Academy.

The PhD Training AG is part of the Education Committee, comprising also the Clinical Training AG and the E-Learning AG, overall chaired by Bjorn Busse (Germany).

In general, the Committee considers the educational needs of ECTS members at all stages of their careers and based on this offers them training and educational activities.

Specifically, the PhD Training AG reaches out to young investigators to help them increasing their knowledge in the bone research field and shaping their own career in the academy or in the industry.

The main activity of this AG is the organization of the annual PhD Training Course, which is now at its 17th edition. Owing to a program that is updated and refreshed every year to cover basics on bone cells as well as new, translational concepts and innovative technologies, and to attention to the multidisciplinary nature of modern research, the course is recognized as one of the most innovative and successful in the field of bone biology. The course also constitutes an invaluable opportunity for receiving mentoring from experts in the field in an informal environment and for networking with peers from other Countries.

The young and variate composition of the PhD Training AG guarantees actual knowledge of the learning and mentoring needs of the new generations of researchers across Europe.

To learn more about this year course, which will be held in the fascinating setting of the Inter-University Center in Dubrovnik, Croatia, please visit the ECTS website at the this link. Registrations are open: please, do not hesitate to spread the voice and to register if you are eligible.

See you in Dubrovnik!

Cristina
