The ECTS Website & Social Media Action Group plays a vital role in the European Calcified Tissue Society (ECTS), serving as the bridge between the organisation and its diverse community of stakeholders. With a mission to enhance the visibility and engagement of ECTS, the committee works to promote the society’s activities, foster member involvement, and position ECTS as the leading European authority in the bone field. The ECTS Website & Social Media Action Group is part of the Communications Committee, which is led by Prof. Dr. Heide Siggelkow. The Action Group itself is chaired by Dr. Sonja Gamsjäger and consists of the following members: Michaël Laurent, Melanie Haffner-Luntzer, Michaela Rossi, Cayetano Galera, as well as Gonzalo Sanchez-Duffhues and Steve Stegen, representing the ECTS Academy.
One of the group’s primary responsibilities is representing ECTS to its community. By creating engaging and informative content, the team helps disseminate cutting-edge research and initiatives in bone and calcified tissue science. They ensure that all communication remains timely, accurate, and comprehensive, catering to the needs of scientists, clinicians, and other stakeholders alike. Through website and social media campaigns, the group raises awareness of the latest developments while strengthening the ECTS brand. The committee is also dedicated to fostering greater member involvement. By encouraging active participation in ECTS events and initiatives, they create opportunities for researchers and practitioners to collaborate and exchange knowledge. This dynamic engagement helps to amplify the society’s impact and highlights its pivotal role in advancing research in the field of bone health. Through these efforts, the ECTS Website & Social Media Action Group not only supports the society’s growth but also contributes to the wider dissemination of knowledge and innovation in the bone field across Europe and beyond.
The group’s latest initiative is the creation of an ECTS Bluesky account (@ectssociety.bsky.social), acknowledging the shifting social media landscape as X (formerly Twitter) becomes less reliable as a communication platform. This step underscores the team’s commitment to exploring new channels to connect with the community and continue sharing timely, relevant updates. Let’s reconnect on Bluesky!
