President’s end-of-year message. By Peter Pietschmann, ECTS President

Dear Colleagues,

The year 2023 marked two notable anniversaries for ECTS: our society was founded 60 years ago and we held the 50th ECTS congress in Liverpool. Also this year’s congress was very successful; many thanks go to the Chair, Bo Abrahamsen, the scientific program committee, the local organizing committee as well as the staff from ECTS and Interplan for their hard work in setting up and organizing everything so well. To give some numbers: in Liverpool we had 699 attendees, 372 abstracts were accepted for presentation; among these 97 were selected for oral presentations.

For the 2024 annual congress in Marseille the preparations are well advanced, we will place particular emphasis on interaction and the interdisciplinary exchange of scientific ideas. As in every scientific congress, the success of our meeting also will depend on the contributions we receive from the scientific community. I would like to draw your attention to the abstract deadline of January 9th, 2024. Please submit your abstracts, we would love to learn about your latest scientific discoveries. Since ECTS fosters a multidisciplinary approach in the musculoskeletal field, basic/translational as well as clinical/epidemiologic submissions are very welcome. As in the previous year, all accepted abstracts will be published in a supplement of JBMR® Plus.

Since this year comes to an end, I would like to remind you to renew you membership. ECTS is a volunteer led non-for-profit society; your support is crucial to reach our goals. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all members for their active participation and their contribution of time and expertise.

I hope to see you next year in Marseille.
