The next edition of the clinical training course on Metabolic Bone Diseases will span over two days in November 2024 and offer a very interesting and multi-faceted programme. After being brought to life and excellently chaired by Professor Richard Eastell and Professor Nuria Guanabens since 2021, it is now a great honour for me to organize this year’s online course together with my Co-Chair Dr. Felix von Brackel.
We are delighted to welcome multiple experts in the musculoskeletal field who will provide participants with the fundamental and advanced knowledge in clinical skills for the evaluation and management of patients with a metabolic bone disease. The training course will combine state-of-the-art lectures with discussion of instances and cases and offer ample opportunities for networking and sharing ideas
Highlights of this year’s course will include:
Understanding Bone Metabolism:
– Foundational knowledge on bone metabolism, focusing on both general and specific aspects across different life stages.
Diagnostic and Therapeutic Approaches:
– Discussion and illustration of key points in the diagnosis and treatment of metabolic bone diseases including anabolic treatments.
Focus on Different Aspects of Osteoporosis:
– Addressing various forms of osteoporosis, including pediatric, premenopausal, male, and geriatric osteoporosis, and their respective treatment strategies.
Advances in Osteomalacia:
– Exploring the latest advancements in the understanding and treatment of osteomalacia, including differentiation from osteoporosis and management of conditions like XLH and hypophosphatasia.
Bone Health in Challenging Situations:
– Addressing bone health issues in challenging contexts such as obesity, malnutrition, and cancer, and provide insights into specialized treatment options.
We are keen to offer interactive opportunities for participants to engage in discussions, share experiences, and network with experts and peers in the field. This will be achieved by workshops and case discussions to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios. We are looking forward to your active participation!
