Bo Abrahamsen (Past President)
Linkedin post: “My term on the European Calcified Tissue Society (ECTS) Board has come to an end. A year as president-elect, three years as president and two years as past president. I won’t lie. It’s been tough. Implementing a probably ill-judged move of the society away from the UK, spending a fortune winding down a UK charity, dealing with keeping science going during the pandemic, running congresses next to land wars, Liverpool meeting being haunted by Eurovision refurbishment and the Grand National. But blessed with a fantastic Board and hard-working staff, definitely leaving the ECTS in good hands. Thank you for your support.”
Christian Maier (Treasurer from 2019 until 2025)
Reflections on my experience: “It has been an honor and a privilege to serve on the ECTS Board. Although the financial situation has been challenging in recent years, I remain optimistic. I believe that our valued and productive collaboration with corporate partners will continue to foster an environment in which ECTS can successfully fulfil its mission—to promote clinical, scientific, and educational excellence in the musculoskeletal field.”
Geert Carmeliet (started in 2019 as Chair of the Basic Science Committee and then switched to Secretary until 2025)
Thoughts about the experience: “As Secretary of the ECTS I had the privilege to acknowledge that ECTS is a lively and active society, which thrives to have a very open and transparent policy, embracing and supporting scientists from all European countries. One of its pillars and assets is that ECTS strongly promotes the interaction between clinicians and basic scientists involved in musculoskeletal research, by highlighting novel scientific and technological developments at its yearly meeting. The fact that almost 100 ECTS members are highly engaged in 16 committees underscores the dynamic and energetic nature of the society in order to improve musculoskeletal research and the treatment of patients.”
