The ECTS Board of Directors’ meeting where we held the election of the future ECTS President and Treasurer. This time, we had two excellent internal candidates and on behalf of the Board, I am pleased to announce the results of the elections.
Professor Bo Abrahamsen has been elected as future ECTS President. In line with the ECTS bylaws, presented to you on 29 November 2018, Bo is now President Elect and will take office as President for three years during the ECTS Annual Congress in Marseille in 2020. Bo has been an active member of ECTS for many years, he is a Board Member since May 2018 and has served as Clinical Co-Chair of the ECTS 2019 Scientific Programme Committee as well as Chair of the Communications Committee.
At the Board meeting, Bo introduced his vision for ECTS, summarized here.
Professor Chris Meier has been elected ECTS Treasurer, following Erik Fink Eriksen. He has served as Chair of the Clinical Practice Action Group for the past two years and he is also the Clinical Co-Chair of the Scientific Programme Committee for the upcoming ECTS 2020. He is currently a member of the ECTS Board of Directors, following the elections held in conjunction with the last Annual General Meeting in Budapest, where the members strongly supported his nomination.
Chris also presented his vision as Treasurer for ECTS, summarized here.
Together with Gudrun Stenbeck, ECTS Secretary, Bo, Chris and Anna Teti will team up as ECTS Executive Committee. On behalf of the membership and together with the Board, we will steer and coordinate the activities of our society.

– André van Wijnen: Chair of the Communication Committee
– Carola Zillikens: Chair of the Clinical Science Committee
On this occasion, we would also like to take the opportunity to thank once more Claus Glüer, Lorenz Hofbauer, Erik Fink Eriksen and Martina Rauner who finished their term during the 2019 AGM in Budapest, for their commitment to ECTS over the past years.
The newly formed ECTS Board, together with the staff and all Action Group members, will continue focusing on ECTS Strategic Priorities and tackle new areas of activities.
