Call for ECTS Members: Join Global Study on Primary Hyperparathyroidism (PHPT)

Join an international effort to study the prevalence of different presentations of hypercalcaemic hyperparathyroidism around the world.

Primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) is one of the most common endocrine disorders, yet its presentation varies significantly across the globe. While clinical and therapeutic aspects have been widely studied, epidemiological data remain limited—underscoring the need for a global perspective.

Study Objective

To evaluate the prevalence of different clinical presentation of hypercalcaemic hyperparathyroidism worldwide.

Who Can Participate?

  • Research centers from all continents
    (Africa, North America, South America, Asia, Europe, Oceania)
  • Each center will enroll the first 25 patients diagnosed with PHPT.

Data to Collect

  • Clinical History & Physical Examination
    Anthropometric data, family history, medical history (fractures, kidney stones, pancreatitis, etc)
  • Biochemical Values
    Calcium, phosphate, creatinine, alkaline phosphatase, PTH, 25(OH)D, 24-hour urinary calcium and creatinine
  • Imaging & Instrumental Tests
    BMD (lumbar spine, hip, radial), vertebral X-rays, kidney ultrasonography

Patients will be classified into:

  1. Symptomatic
  2. Asymptomatic with complications
  3. Asymptomatic without complications

Open Position: Postdoctoral Fellow on Osteoimmunology at Department of Biomaterials, SAINBIOSE, INSERM U1059, Saint-Priest-en-Jarez, France

The postdoc will be hired in the frame of the Osteomod project (In vitro and In silico models to
understand the bioelectric code of osteoimmunology), funded by the ANR.
The position runs for two years and we envision to hire an early stage-postdoctoral fellow.

Assistant Professor of Nutrition and Bone Health at University of Georgia, USA

Assistant Professor of Nutrition and Bone Health (45% Research, 50% Teaching, 5% Service), 9-month academic year tenure-track appointment in the Department of Nutritional Sciences in the College of Family and Consumer Sciences https://www.fcs.uga.edu.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
• Develop a nationally recognized and externally-funded program in the area of clinical and translational nutrition and bone health.
• Direct and support research programs of PhD and MS-level students.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in nutrition.
• Engage in collaborative and interdisciplinary research with faculty in Nutritional Sciences, the College of Family and Consumer Sciences and other UGA departments/colleges.
• Contribute to activities that serve the department, college, university, the public and the profession.

QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered for the position of Assistant Professor, the applicant must hold an earned doctoral degree (upon appointment) in nutrition or a related scientific field. The applicant must have an academic background in the science of nutrition and have demonstrated productivity in bone-related research in health and/or disease. The applicant should have demonstrated scholarly competence and research productivity and evidence of strong written and verbal communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates with at least two years of post-doctoral research experience and at least two years of experience conducting clinical trials focused on bone health are preferred. Candidates that demonstrate evidence of preparation and submission of external research grants are also preferred.
