ECTS mourns the loss of a member and colleague, Dr Jean-Pierre David, UKE, Hamburg

It is with great sadness that the European Calcified Tissue Society – ECTS, announces the passing of Jean-Pierre David.

Jean-Pierre, University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf, was a biologist and expert of molecular medicine. He was recognized worldwide as a renowned expert in the field of AP-1 transcription factors and investigated how these molecules in the  cell influence the course of human diseases.

He played a key role in the development of the society and recently he was an active member of the Grants & Awards Committee and first co-chair of the Website Action Group.

Unfortunately, Jean Pierre recently passed away much too early after a short illness. We will very much miss his spirit and enthusiasm for science.
